THE HAUNTED HOUSE
The night was dark, the sky was clear, and the moon was full. It was a perfect night for it to be Halloween. You could hear the sounds of the neighborhood children scaring each other, laughing, and making scary sounds. The children were dressed up in all different costumes, from ballerina’s to zombies.
There were two brothers James & Aiden who lived two houses down from our house. They were twins. James was always the cool one and Aiden was more crazy and ready for anything that was scary, but fun at the same time. James dressed up as a zombie and Aiden was a vampire. They just had their tenth birthday the day before. Everybody at school knew that this was the year they were going to trick or treat at the big scary house where the old lady lived.
For years the kids in the neighborhood would hear stories about the house where the old lady lived. People would say that she would cast spells on people that came to her door for Halloween. Some even said that when kids went there, they were never the same after. Everybody in the neighborhood said that the old lady hated Halloween because her husband died that day many years before from children scaring him. He had a heart attack, or so they said.
James and Aiden were determined, that after they turned ten, that Halloween they were going to see the old lady for themselves. They went to all the houses in the neighborhood with all the other kids and got tons of candy. Finally, they came to the big scary house where the old lady lived. There was an old metal gate covered in spider webs that the boys had to go through to get to her front door. The other kids tried to talk them out of going, but they were determined.
They went up to the front door, rang the doorbell and waited. Nothing happened so Aiden rang the doorbell a bunch of times. Just then the porch light came on and the boys got scared. They had chills and were shaking. Still nobody...
