The Hobbit

Over this summer I read the book the Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. Overall it was a fun, adventurous, and scary book. At some times it made me feel emotions which are an important thing in a book; it shows you care about what you’re reading. A few bad things about this book are that it can be dull when it is describing characters or a seen, also I couldn’t connect with anything that happened in the book, lastly it was a hard read because the people talked with a weird style of speaking.
This book took place when dragons roamed the air and wizards could cast nasty spells on all sorts of different creatures. The main characters are Bilbo Baggins (a hobbit), Fili, Kili, Dwalin, Balin, Oin, Gloin, Ori, Dori, Nori, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur (who are dwarves and aren’t described too much), and Gandalf a wise wizard who gets them out of many predicaments. In this story this daring group travels many miles to try to take a fortune back from a dragon who stole it from one of the dwarves elders. Along the way they get into many small predicaments with worgs, goblins, trolls, humans, elves, and a dragon.
I think this book was a fun read, but a difficult read, and at sometimes it could be a little boring, but at the end it was worth it because it is a great classic book. It is a book that sometimes you never want to put it down and at other times you want to just stop reading and start a new book (mostly at the beginning of the story). I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars overall.
