The Importance of Stable Work Life

In actuality I am a part of a long list of people that are a piece of a
larger puzzle in which corporate goals, business missions and decision
makers keep changing as companies try to react to unanticipated economic
pressures. Today companies operate in a market that increasingly is
becoming global, and where technological development is advancing ever
faster. Global competition, shorter product life cycles and constant
reorganization of business puts increasing demands on companies and
projects that are under their control. As a result of this trend more and more
organizations in different industries are working on a project basis. As
authors such as Richard Sennett, a sociologist, Jill Casner-Lotto and Linda
Barrington, a former senior vice president for policy studies, and an
economist explain the depths of being skilled in the important field like
communication and English so an individual can live comfortably and for
their work life to be stable. I am taking heed to their novels and passages to
better myself and figure out how I will prepare a working life for myself
being that change is the only constant.
One of the most prevalent agents of change is that of the global
economy where some it’s increasing impact on what is thought of as stable
and resilient companies. To work for a company in the future I can reduce
the impact by constantly upgrading my skills, developing new skills, and

making myself a valuable asset to my company. Possibly this will make the
company that I am with think twice before releasing me from employment if
the company has to make a decision like this.
Lotto and Barrington states, “As business leaders we must play a role
in creating opportunities for young people to obtain the skills they need .
Businesses can partner with schools and other organizations that work with
young people to provide internships, job shadowing programs and summer
jobs”(252). Depending on my budget...
