In today’s modern society it is easy to see the individual and environmental dynamics that play as major roles in people’s lives as severe stress factors. These dynamics can be found in nearly everyone’s lives. This is due to the diverse nature of different individual and environmental stress factors.
Environmental stress factors are the easiest to identify because they are so prevalent and affect more then a single person. A perfect example of environmental stressor is a natural disaster. Human beings react in a variety of different ways when natural disasters occur but they are often a global cause of stress. This is due to the sense of instability that people feel when the general ecosystem is not normal. In addition to natural disasters, another impacting environmental stressor would be a lifestyle choice such as criminal activity which may directly entail a jail term. For anyone who has served a jail term life after may prove much more difficult. The stress of becoming accustomed to daily life outside of a prison can be incredibly overwhelming. Also the sheer stress from being in prison alone can cause many people to be so stressed that major actions may be taken in order to achieve a more stress free lifestyle. For some, however, the environmental stress may just cause someone to live a life never knowing a stress free environment.
Individual dynamics in terms of stress are equally severe. They can be, however, much more complex. Examples of an individual stressor would be having two exams in one day, difficulties with parents or even losing one’s keys. Likewise, an even more traumatic individual cause of stress could be something as life-changing as being raped. Rape is a perfect example of an individual dynamic due to its incredibly dramatic presence. Many people who are raped never recover and suffer emotional and stressful experiences for the rest of their lives.
