Report 1 The Job of a Director One of the most important jobs in the T.V. and film industry is the job of the director. Directors have many jobs in a production, and they are always under constant pressure to fulfill their duties. The director oversees a production and makes sure that every creative aspect for the production is met. He or she is responsible for interpreting the script, auditioning and directing talent, overseeing technical operations, and making sure that everyone else’s job is being done. The director also takes part in the postproduction of a work. Interpreting the script can lead to other various jobs for a director. Those jobs could involve the planning of locations, shots, pacing, acting styles, and anything else that can affect the overall feel of a production. Directors must have an understanding of the different aspects of a T.V or film production. They should know everything from basic acting skills to the technology of the cameras. When directing talent, the director has to make sure that the actors are performing to the best of their ability and that the actors can interpret their roles within the script. And when directing the technical crew, directors must determine the lighting and camera angles that they want in a shot. The director is also responsible for directing the sound department. Directors also have the job of making sure that deadlines are met and that the production is within budget. The director is constantly meeting with the producer of a production to make sure that these things are accomplished. Directors usually map out a timeline so that they can come up with a shooting schedule. After all of the hours of shooting and putting everything together, the director’s last job is to edit the final cut.
