The Jump
Have you every jumped off a seventy foot cliff before? Well about three years ago. I was visiting with my family in Rapid City when my cousin Haley wanted to go to the lake by Custer. They said it was a forty minute drive and I thought it was worth that long of drive until she brought up the cliff she wanted me to jump off of. She told me that her friends do it all the time and she even did it once. I was all for it so Austin, Alex, Haley and me got into the car and left.
The car ride took forever because it was so hilly and had a crazy amount of turns. When we finally arrived at the lake and had to hike two miles to get to the swimming spot we jumped right in and the water felt really warm and it was also clear you could see about fifteen feet deep and it was actually pretty cool. We swam for about a half an hour I was thinking about the cliff the whole time but didn’t say anything until finally I saw some people jumping off a huge cliff and I thought to myself that’s it. There were three guys over at the cliff and it looked really high. We walk over to the cliff it took forever to get to the top. The guys up there asked us if we wanted to jump off and I said yes, so they started to show me what to do. They said you have to jump out at least ten feet because if you don’t you’ll hit the rocks on the bottom so that got me a little nervous.
It took me a while the longer I thought about it the harder it was to jump a couple minutes went by and I said let’s get it done. So I backed up and got a running start at it I went out and jumped. While I was descending I grabbed my legs to do a cannon ball I made a huge splash and water went up my dairy air it hurt so much but it was a lot of fun.
This has taught me to take risked in my life and not be afraid do to anything because the juice is worth the squeeze.
