Upon reading The Kite Runner throughout various stages my attitude towards the book would change. At times if the book was becoming a bit dry or boring I would tend to lose interest and put off reading for a day or two. However, if the book started to get exciting or at times sad I would find myself intrigued by what was happening and not wanting to put the book down. There would be days I would find myself reading for practically the entire day. Throughout the novel there were problems or confusing situations that occurred and many times I found myself asking the questions why or how? For example when one of the characters Hassan is brutally beaten and raped I found myself going why did this have to happen and why did the author have to put it into such detail. Another puzzling question I found myself asking was how the main characters Amir and Hassan ended up being half brothers and how this secret was kept for so long. I also wondered if their relationship would have been any different if they had known sooner. I must admit even though my everyday life is nothing compared to the lives of those in the book, I do share a special bond with someone I have been best friends with for over thirteen years, and we come from different backgrounds but still she is like a sister to me. I feel that our relationship connects to the relationship Amir and Hassan share. This was my first time reading the book and honestly I do not think I have ever read a book like this one, it truly is one of a kind. One thing that I do like about this novel is that it is easy to form mental pictures while reading, this helps me better understand some of the context in the novel because I can get a better feel for it. The author does an exquisite job of describing different setting in the book and as you read you feel like you are that exact same atmosphere.
