The Last Olympian
By Rick Riordan

Setting
The setting of the final book in the Percy Jackson series takes place mostly in Manhattan. It also takes place at Camp Half-Blood and in the Underworld. This book takes place in the 21st century.

Characters
The protagonists in this story are Percy Jackson, Annabeth, Grover and the other demigods. The antagonists are Kronos and the demigods and monsters who have joined his army. Some other characters in the book are Percy’s mom, Nico, Rachel, and Luke

Plot
In this book, Kronos is just about to attack Manhattan. Which is where Olympus is at the moment. It’s up to Percy and his friends to try and stop Kronos before he, and the other Titans, take over the world! But of course there are many challenges. Like Percy has some business in the Underworld, and with Lord Hades. He also has to fight Kronos soon, and this time the gods can’t help. The Great Prophecy is also bugging Percy. It reads: “A Half-Blood of the eldest gods, shall reach sixteen against all odds. And see the world in endless sleep; the hero’s soul cursed blade shall reap. A single choice shall end his days. Olympus to preserve or raze”

Author’s Style
What I like about Rick Riordan’s style is how descriptive he is. He makes you feel like you’re actually there; watching what is going on in the story at that moment. One of my favorite lines in the book was when Nico was saying the spell that raises the dead; “Nico poured the goblet of wine into the hole and began to chant ‘let the dead taste again. Let them raise and take this offering. Maria di Angelo, show yourself!’”

Overall Rating
I loved this book! I didn’t want to stop reading; no matter where I was! I would recommend this book to anyone and would probably give it five stars. I am still disappointed that there aren’t more books in the series. This book is fun to read for all and is loved by many.
