The adventure begins when Digory and Polly figure out that they can go to different worlds with the rings that Digory’s Uncle gives them the only problem is how do they undo what they already did?
The escapade starts on the wettest and coldest summer in London, when Digory and Polly meet in the bottom of the garden. After exploring in the roof spaces in their row of houses, they open the door and they realize they haven’t gone far enough and they are in Digory’s Uncle Andrew’s study. Once they converse on Andrew’s latest scheme they realize yellow rings are to take you to another world and green ones are to get you back. But before they recognize it Uncle Andrew has already tricked Polly to touch a yellow ring and she has vanished, Digory knows that he has to go after her so he touches a yellow ring and he disappears.
Incompetently they both come out of a pool of water but not one piece of hair or clothing was wet and as they looked around they saw they were in a wood of some kind there were many trees but not one animal or sound. As they started to comprehend there surroundings they saw there were many pools and they thought of the strange place they were in to be the wood between the worlds. At that moment they both had different ideas of what to do next Polly wanted to go back but Digory wanted to explore the other pools so as always, Digory got his way and they went exploring. So they took out a yellow ring and jumped into a random pool but nothing happened at once they both knew that the green ones were to go home or to another world and the yellow to get to the wood between the worlds.
