The Navy
Depending on how you look at it, serving the country could be magnificent, or extremely tough. There are four branches of the military that you can serve in, which are the Air force, Army, Marines and the Navy. The Air force is responsible for most airel operations, and even though the Army has some aviation components, its primary responsibilities are land based operations. Marines provide ground forces and are the first ones on scene at a time of war, but like the army they have some aviation components, so they can provide air support is needed. The Marines and Navy work hand-hand to providing amphibious support, but the primary responsibilities of the navy is to provide land support, which includes the delivery of munitions, supplies, and men of all branches, primarily Marines all over the world for different operations. My choice was the Navy, and my experience was negative due to the pay, chain of command and the hard ship incurred by family.
The benefit package is great, and no other company can compare. That being said, the pay is extremely low. If you are not married or receiving BAH (Basic Housing Allowance) you are struggling. Sometimes even then it’s hard for a family to make ends meet. What's even worse that, working on the Flight deck of a ship, or in a combat zone, are two of the most dangerous work places on the planet, yet the pay is only a few dollars more than your regular paycheck. A person risking his/her life deserves more than $150 a month for flight deck pay, and $225 a month for combat pay. Also, if you work 24 hours a month, or 240 hours a month, you get paid the same.
On top of the pay, the chain of command is horrible. There is a lot of favoritism, and if you’re not in that group, life could be pretty bad. If not liked by the chain of command, dreadful tasks are assigned to you, while others get manageable ones. When...
