The holocaust started when Adolf Hitler rose to power in January 30, 1933. He served as chancellor of Germany 1933-1945 and head of state from 1934-1945. He won over the German people by blaming World War 1 and the economic spiral on the Jewish community. He believed everything bad going on in Germany was the fault of the Jews. When he got the German community as well as other parts of Eastern Europe on his side that is when the holocaust began. Hitler didn’t only kill the Jews but also the gypsies and homosexuals. Adolf’s idea of a perfect world was a world with only an Arian race. He believed that all people should have blonde hair and blue eyes , that was his perception of the perfect person.
Hitler believed he could eliminate the whole Jewish race and so he started with discrimination. Jewish people weren’t allowed to swim in public pools, go to movies, the theaters as well as parks. Most Jewish kids were forced to leave their schools. All Jewish people were forced to wear the Star of David and put the Star of David on their businesses. Most of the Jewish communities were forced to live in ghettos and families were broken apart. Some kids were left as orphans to fend for themselves and others were sent to live with other families and religious boarding schools.
When the Jews thought it couldn’t get any worse it sure did. The Jews that were discovered hiding out were sent to concentration camps. Many people were scared to help the Jewish people because they too could be sent to prison, killed, or to concentration camps. When the Jews arrived at the concentration camps they were separated from family members, stripped naked, and stripped of all possessions. The people were forced to live as slave laborers where they were barely nourished and worked to death or until they couldn’t perform task anymore.
