The number of elderly people in the world is increasing. What do you think are the positive and negative effect of this trend?
There is a prevailing tendency that the amount of elders is rising. This phenomenon has two different sides. Considering to this I will reveal both negative and positive opinions about this slant.
The drawbacks of this phenomenon are very influential and affect development of country and society. The elderly people follow spiritual values and are not prepared to change their lifestyles. They are used to being conservative whereas it causes a slow change of the world. Moreover, retention of elders is a very intimidating issue for the government because politicians should find the ways how to pay pensions and go out of economic crisis.
On the other hand, elderly people are a reflection of our culture. They keep our old traditions and this means that we define among other nations. What is more, increasing number of elders has influence on creating new industries such as nursing home, senior university programs, particular tourism for elders, specific food products and etc. Establishing of new workplaces can bring a positive effect on the economy of the world although development of special facilities for elderly people is slow.
Taking everything into account, the fact that the number of the aged is still increasing is an unchangeable trend. Although, this phenomenon has both upsides and downsides but to my mind advantages are brighter because elders are an important component of our society and economy.
