In today’s society, the chances of a marriage resulting in a divorce are more than fifty percent. There are multiple issues that cause a divorce between married couples. Some of the most common causes of divorce are money, lack of communication, and a lack of a sexual relationship.
In the bible it states that “money is the root of all evil” but in marriage money can be the root of all problems. Overspending by one spouse can cause many disagreements and arguments between the married couple. It should be known and agreed on by each spouse how their money should be budgeted and spent. If a married couple fails to manage their money properly and fall into debt, it can cause a very stressful situation. It will ultimately lead to many disagreements and may cause tension in one’s marriage. There are many financial obligations that accompany with deciding to have children. If a married couple is not financially ready for the increase in financial responsibility that comes with expanding the family, it can cause conflict between the two. The income that was once sufficient for the two is now not enough to provide for the family. It is important for married couples to establish a financial understanding prior to marriage, in order to avoid money being a large issue in their marriage.
