This class is for the play Fiddler on the Roof. The class is
held at the school house every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We do multiple art activities that have to do with the set. We paint many sets and back drops for the play, even for next year’s performance. The set is based on the small town of Anatevka Russia. The town consists of poor farmers trying to find their place in life. The story line is based upon a recollection of a farmer in the early 1900s. The play has many singing and dancing parts, as well as regular lines. The play is approx. 2 hours long and consisted of many set changes.
The design of the set was a poor village with a rundown train station. The main set was Teves house and Motels Taylors shop. The train station consisted of park benches and a lamp. The set was very busy and loud with many cool and bright colors. The set had a Jekyll and Hyde because one side was in the other outside. The best part about the sets was that each one was unique.
The parts I worked on myself were the stove and the lights. The lights were the most important part of play. It’s the most important part because the spotlight stays on the star. I loved doing the play because it reminds me that everyone has talent even the ones that don’t think that they do!

The experience with the members and the cast of the play was incredible. Usually I’m doing the lights or the sound, but this time I got to interact with everyone. The Director Mrs. Fultz was great at showing the steps to improving and reciting the lines correctly.
