The Porn Myth
In Naomi Wolf’s article, “The Porn Myth,” she presents arguments that state how porn has effected the sexual desires of men. This article, presented on nymag.com, contains reasoning that I found to be interesting and informative. She discusses the promblems women have with men and their view of sex because of porn. I agree with Naomi Wolf’s statements about men and their unrealistic sexual desires.
Naomi Wolf states that pornography has changed sex for the worse. She believes that it has effected women more than men. I strongly agree with Wolf. It is not enough for women anymore to be naked if front of her man. Now, the woman has to do acts to arouse a man. As technology has developed, so has the porn industry. At first, a guy could look at erotic images in Playboy. Then, they could purchase pornographic videos. And, now, they can simply go on-line and type in their fantasy, for free. One thing Wolf puts together is the correlation between the development of the pornography industry and the change in women’s appearances. The women in the porn indusrty have breasts that are big and look young, even if the woman herself is not so young. Women are now doing everything they can to look like these fake porn stars, such as boob jobs, tanning, and Brazilian bikini waxes. I agree with Wolf when she says that what women do to themselves now is not only sad, but it is also disgusting. By making these unnecessary changes, women are allowing men to tell them how they should look and act.
Wolf also states that now women must perform acts that are less than ladylike to get there partner aroused. An example of this is when girls must do a raunchy, stripper inspired strip tease. It is as if women have to be able to spin aroud a pole in order to be good enough for a man’s attention. Another example of gross acts would be the act of one night lesbianism. The women who act like they want to be with another women for one night in order to make a man want her are...
