The Power of Praise
When we find ourselves in the midst of a storm, we remember our Father in Heaven and we pray. However the word of God says that we should pray without ceasing. So, why is it that we fail to pray and give praise continually?
In prayer we plead for some type of help or assistant. It is in our nature to recognize when there is a need for support and quickly seek for a way out of that dilemma. Prayer is an action that we take to petition our requests before God. We ask for strength, healing, finance, work, or relationships be added to us without conditions of our current positions. By this I mean if you are saved or not it doesn’t matter your prayer request is sent to God because that requester is only looking for an answer. Praise, on the other hand, is the action of giving to God what He is due.
Praise is a lot like faith; it is thanksgiving of things hope for before they have been seen. If we were to exercise the privilege of prayer and praise together we would have that harmony of continually seeking and serving God. It would become continual as every prayer would be followed by praise. Imagine that every prayer was followed with 15 minutes of praise. The power of each prayer would not only be received by God, but would please Him as well because of our show of faith.
Smith Wigglesworth wrote, “Praise is God's sunlight in the heart. It destroys sin germs. It ripens the fruits of the Spirit. It is the oil of gladness that lubricates life's activities. There can be no holy life without it. It keeps the heart pure and the eye clear. Praise is essential to the knowledge of God and His will. The strength of a life is the strength of its song. When the pressure is heavy that is the time to sing....
