Kudler Fine Foods Problem Statement
Kudler Fine Foods which was started by Kathy Kudler is a gourmet grocery store for the savvy customer. The idea though risky was sound. Kathy new what people in the La Jolla area wanted so she gave it to them. When the business grew quickly so she felt it was time to expand, and expand she did. She ended up opening one more store with one more on the way. With her sights on even more expansion to more remote geographic areas it will put a strain on Kathy’s current management team. The current management team consists solely of Kathy. She does all the ordering and maintaining of inventory. These expansion plans could make it more difficult for Kathy to visit each store and maintain inventory and ordering. So what should Kathy do to correct this issue?
Kathy has a dream, a dream that could very well fade into oblivion if she does not take certain steps. Kudler Fine Foods wants to not only be the best in La Jolla California, but also in San Francisco and Florida. For this dream to become a successful reality Kathy should hire a seasoned manager, and show him exactly how she wants things done. Once she feels comfortable with him she should let him take over the ordering and inventory side of the store. Now this is not the only thing that needs to be addressed to make this store a country wide success. The inventory system needs to be brought into the 21st century. An investment into a proper computer system will help the process move more smoothly and in turn over time save the store money and increase productivity. She should also start a management training program for her current employees to offer them some incentive to do better and to truly care about the direction of Kudler Fine Foods.
