Abstract
This paper will show the problems in the American health care system which has resulted in discussions of reform. The decision for America to reform its health care system or keep the status quo has caused heated debates. I will go over how the health care system currently is laid out. The current system works for many Americans but is also unavailable to others. Health care is a major expense to the United States government, accounting in a sizeable amount of the budget in the government run health care programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. There are many people not covered under the current government programs and cannot afford to have health care. This debate goes to the compassion the American society is or is not willing to give to the unfortunate people without health care. There are clear problems in the American health care system but there are solutions being considered to eliminate the financial waste and abuse.

This paper will go over health care in the American culture. There will be exploration of the various means to administer health care within the current health care system and the proposed changes to reform problems identified by the society. With health care being so important an issue, there are many ideas in how to get to the best health care possible for the American people. There have been attempts in the past to reform the health care system, with each attempt failing. President Obama is the latest to try and bring significant changes to the health care system. With any attempt at change in America, there is sharp resistance from not only the opposing political party but even within the President’s own party. For decades, private and political groups have attempted reform, and few have succeeded. Cost is the primary reason and is the breaking point for most of the efforts for reform....
