Drug addiction
As I about to go home, I met a drug user, his eyes were red, his face was dirty, his body was thin and he was holding a knife in his bare grimy hand. He wanted to kill me. But with the great fear of my life, I ran away as fast as I could. It took me a long time to get over as what happened to me. I had sleepless nights. Perplexed! Yet, determine that I will do something about it.
Friends, fellow contestants, board of judges. Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon…
Can you hear me? Yes you!, I am standing in front of you not to tell reasons why I look good, nor tell you about what makes my life happy, but I am here because of my strong conviction about the problems of drugs. Yes, that is my reason… Drug addiction is one of the greatest problems across the country. And because of this many people, especially young become the first victim of these illegal drugs.
According to my survey, most of the victims are the youth like me; a youth that needs to have lived for a longer time to experience of what is truth and beauty in life. But because of drugs, their future becomes shallow and empty; their dream is tormented pitifully until their purpose in life become unseen, and their shooting up drugs. Friends, this is a waste of human potentials!
On the other hand, I could barely see how strong and destructive what I call drugs. Based on my research, there was a case before that because of drugs, a father raped his 14 year old daughter and murdered by her own boyfriend. This is ridiculous my friends! Drugs could spoil your mind and destroy your positive habits.
Sad to say, drug abuse and addiction does not only affect the person abusing drugs. It affects friends, family, and the entire society. What is more serious thing is that, child abuse and neglect is much common in the family when there is drug abuse in the family, and most importantly, abusing drugs lead to higher risk of injuries, death to self and others, and...
