Journal Entry #3
The relationship between Mitch’s brother peter wasn’t very close because peter was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he wanted to be left alone away from his family and he didn’t want any contact with them. Peter wanted to feel like he didn’t have anyone with him and if something would have happened to peter then his family wouldn’t have to deal with the pain as much as they would if he was there with him. Peter also likes to think that he doesn’t need to have anyone with him because he didn’t think that he had that long to live and he wanted to think that if his family was far away peter also didn’t have any contact with his family if they would call he would just let it go to the answering machine and never call them back.
When Mitch called he knew that his brother was there and he would tell him to pick up the phone but he knew that he wouldn’t pick it up and so Mitch just left his message.
But before Mitch wouldn’t have even thought about calling Peter because he didn’t want any contact with him so he just kept it to himself until Morrie asked if he had a brother and of course he had tell him the truth so Mitch told yea I have a brother his name is peter he has pancreatic cancer and we don’t talk as much as we use to he kind of likes to keep to himself and we try to call him to see how he is doing but he never answers the phone when we call.
I think its cause he is going to treatment and doesn’t want his family to see him like that .
