The sound of the keyboard typing away and the clicking of the mouse throughout the night has become a normal existence in my daily life. Staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning, knowing school starts 7:45 A.M did not bother me. All I knew then a day was incomplete without logging in to My Myu-sik.
When I was in high school this chat room at Yahoo was one of my best source of entertainment. My myu-sik was totally different among the other chat rooms online. It’s a live Music Chat! It’s a place where most Asian talented people all over the world spend endless hours sharing only one interest - Music.
Back then, I was really timid. Scared of making new friends. Maybe because I just moved in U.S., new to the environment and considering English as my second language. It really took me awhile before I got fully adjusted. That time I found it a lot easier to make new friends in a chat room.
Rrriiiiingggg!!! That’s the bell. School’s over for the day. Time to go home. That’s my every day routine. Very simple, after school straight back home. Now you see how I got hooked up to chatting.
I really love music but couldn’t show it to the world. Although I get to perform in church twice a week that didn’t change the fact that I was timid. Besides my siblings were in it too and that’s the only reason I felt comfortable somehow. But in My Myu-sik I can express myself with no fear. I could sing endlessly without any hesitation.
And because I was everyday present I felt accepted, and I got well-known in this chat room. Chatters logging in were the same people coming in every single day welcoming you gladly. People started trusting me, I gained lots of friends. Then later on I became one of the chat operators. Being a chat operator means you have the power. You have the authority to ban, kick chatters and do line-ups in the room, and above all chatters respect you. And line-up was made for those people who want to sing and play...
