TEMPLE OF ZEUS, A ROMAN GOD

INTRODUCTION
Zeus is a conqueror to many and the defeater of Alexander the great in the Roman War. Zeus was an ancient leader back in the day of chariots and the Romans. He is very well loved by the people of Greece and is well known around the world. There is an ancient shrine to him that sits inside the Temple of Zeus. With 13 stone columns left holding the well designed limestone roof over the statue of Zeus, The Temple of Zeus is one of the most important buildings in Greece’s history. It was built as a story telling temple for the great god named Zeus. The top of this building is a covering to a statue of Zeus which represents the story and reasoning of the temple itself. The temples architectural structure was very advanced for the time period it was built in, built of stone and holding strong for many years. There is a statue inside of the temple called the Statue of Zeus and is a shrine to the great ruler and god of everything as the people of Greece believed.
MEMORY
As a memory of Zeus, this large building encasing the Statue of Zeus holds one of the greatest memories in Greece’s past. Zeus’ defeating of Alexander the Great, lead to the reasoning of building this large statue, and the lime stone building encasing it. Zeus is a god to the people of Greece and forever will be. He is a god! “This supreme god surpasses all others in spirit, wisdom, and justice, and prevails upon good men by persuasion, intimidating the evil by punishment.” (cparada p.69). This building tells the story and remembrance of the great Zeus. It tells the story of past happenings and keeps theirbeliefs strong.
ARCHITECTUAL DESIGN
The top is a covering around the large statue. It protects the statue inside from weathering and getting destroyed. It keeps the shrine and memory of the great god known to everyone in the world. He will be forever remembered and kept safe. “An ancient Greek temple in...
