The three health service organizations mission statements that I have chosen to write about are WellPoint, Inc., National Institute on Alcohol and Abuse and Alcoholism, and the American Cancer Society. These three organizations stood out to me because they serve and help a great deal in my community and surrounding areas. They each meet the requirements of a good mission statement because they all perform and uphold the qualities within their statements.
The first of the three mission statements I will use is the WellPoint, Inc. mission statement. WellPoint, Inc. is one of the leading insurance companies in the United States. They offer a choice of quality health benefits that are designed to fit individuals and their families throughout life. While in this leadership role, WellPoint has been able to improve healthcare in our communities and they also have been able to address many of the healthcare issues. Their mission statement states that they will improve the lives of the people we serve and the health of our communities. The reason I feel this is a good mission statement is because of the personal experiences with this insurance. WellPoint, Inc. has made the commitment with the community by putting the customer first, leading through innovation, becoming one company, one team, personal accountability, and integrity. By putting the customer first this means that WellPoint becomes the customer. With WellPoint taking the role as the customer, they want to make sure they are able to lead through innovation. Working to create faster and simpler solutions to deliver products and services, WellPoint was able to become One Company, One Team. We make sure we treat everyone with respect, dignity, and courtesy no matter who they are within the company. While maintaining personal accountability, integrity is used to keep the promises made in an ethical, honest, and fair way when handling all situations.
