theDescription: The S+SSPR 2008 workshops are held at UCF from December 4-6 2008. S+SSPR 2008 is a satellite event of ICPR 2008 (International Conference on Pattern Recognition), which is held in Tampa on December 7-11. The S+SSPR 2008 workshops provide an opportunity to researchers from all over the world to showcase new advances in the field, and engage in meaningful discussions in a small conference setting. S+SSPR 2008 features 56 oral presentations, 42 poster presentations, and four invited talks by renowned experts in the pattern recognition community (Hortst Bunke, Ludmila Kuncheva, Tin Kam Ho and Pedro Domingos). On Friday, December 5, Tin Kam Ho will present an invited talk titled Data Complexity Analysis: Linkage between Context and Solution in Classification. The talk will take place at the Live Oak Event Center, LO AB, at 3:30 p.m. Dr. Tin Kam Ho leads the Department of Statistics and Leraning in Bell-Labs, Alcatel-Lucent, and she is the winner of the 2008 Pierre Devijver Award. On Friday, December 5, Chad Haas, will present the keynote speech at the S+SSPR 2008 banquet. The S+SSPR 2008 banquet will be held at the Student Union in Cape Florida, 316 ABCD, at 7:30 p.m. Chad Haas leads the Strategy and Operations Department for Cruise Line Information Technology.
