How does the character of scrooge change during the store A Christmas Carol? The first change shown in scrooge is in stave one during Marley’s ghost. Marley is scrooges old work partner and is seen in good light by scrooge. In scrooge’s eyes Marley is seen as a good and hard working business man, such as when scrooge is talking to the ghost of Marley For many years scrooge has had a golden idol that has controlled a determined his life. From late teens scrooge has had many rejections because of this obsession with money for example; he was rejected by Bella because of his change from a loving man to a money grabbing, tight fisted wrenched man.

I feel that Scrooges is as hard as flint because of the years of neglect from his farther and his mother’s death. For example when was a child he was left at school for the holiday, alone with his only friends being characters in books. But by the end of the story he is very different; he is not the hardened flint but is a giving kind man with a big heart. All of this change is due to the ghost of Marley and the three spirits.
