Analysis of sports on the three different types of theoretical approaches:
1.Sports and the structural functional approach paradigm :
The structural functional approach points to the idea that how sports will effect the overall society. Sports have manifest as well as latent functions. The manifest functions of sports include physical exercise. Sports are a source of entertainment. They are also source of income and success. Its Latent functions are that it develops competition among societies. Dysfunction of sports is injury.

2.Sports and the social conflict approach paradigm :
Social conflict approach highlights that the people belonging to different classes in a society play different types of sports. Poor people cannot afford to play expensive sports like golf etc. They cannot even buy expensive tickets. There is gender discrimination as well. Women are not allowed to play at international levels, they are paid less. Racial dicrimination is also prominent, white players get more pay as compared to black. White make more money on the basis of there positions on the fields. In addition to this, minorities are not treated on the basis of equality.

3.Sports and the symbolic interaction approach paradigm :
Symbolic interaction approach studies the effect of sports on individual players. There is competition among the players of a team. Some players play just to win the game while there are others who just play for the love of the game. They enjoy playing and are so deeply involved that they forget the competition and just play for enjoyment. Players become more social due to face to face interaction with people of the society. Different players get different positions. Jealousies and prejudices are also present among players.
