Timothy Mcveigh

Timothy McVeigh was born on April 23, 1968 in Pendleton, NY. He was the middle child of three and the only boy, Timothy was known as the fun loving and a happy child. The person who influenced Timothy the most was his grandfather Eddie McVeigh. His grandfather taught Timothy about the outdoors, hunting, and significantly about guns. At the age of thirteen Timothy was given a .22 caliber rifle by his grandfather. His grandfather asked Tim what he wanted to be when he grew up and Tim answered a gun shop owner. After graduating high school with honors, Timothy was influenced by a book The Turner Diaries and a movie called Red Dawn. The Turner Diaries was written by William Pierce and the hero in the book demonstrates his contempt of gun control laws by truck-bombing the Washington FBI Headquarters. In the movie Red Dawn the hero leads his band of followers into the woods with seemingly endless rounds of ammo and supplies they'll need to survive. These two influences convinced Timothy to be a survivalists so on May 24, 1988 he joined the Army. The Army was everything Timothy wanted and more. While in the army he met Terry Nichols and Michael Fortier. From basic training the three men went to Fort Riley, Kansas where McVeigh became a gunner on the Bradley fighting vehicle. Timothy showed unusually high level of skill with every weapon he encountered.  As a result, he earned himself an invitation to try out for the Special Forces and he trained hard to ensure his chance of wearing a Green Beret. But, before he was due to be evaluated the Gulf War erupted and McVeigh's first infantry division was dispatched to the Persian Gulf and serve in Desert Storm. After Desert Storm he returned home and received a Bronze Star. He finally tried out for the Special Forces and having loss all his stamina in Desert Storm he was not fit enough to make the cut.
