To Do What You Want to Do

To Do What You Want to Do

What is freedom? As we defined it in class it means, “ to do what you want to do whenever you want to do it.” I do think this is right, but up to a certain extent, its nice how we can drive anywhere like to the movies for instance, but we cant rob a person and not get in trouble. If freedom was truly this way we would live in a very corrupt world. Do we really want the free will in which we imagine, or do we just like the thought of it? When I think of 100% free will I think of a city in complete chaos and distress. I think of crimes happening all the time and an uncontrollable amount of violence and deaths. I think of a scared town afraid to sleep at night because of the people who kill to kill or steal to steal. For instance weed is a very common thing which I think should be legal (not a pothead). But yet I have to put on a “front” to my dad to make him think I would never do it or want to. As Arthur Miller said,” acting is inevitable, as soon as we walk out our front doors into society.” I find this to be true because I do it. And once you get this front going on its hard to change it, it would be easy if say I went to another school because I could be whoever I want to be, or really whoever my peers would want me to be. That’s one thing we don’t really talk about is peer pressure it is a very powerful thing, it isn’t just saying no to cigarettes like the media has it hyped up to be. Its also how to act, how to dress, how to talk, very few people are who they truly want to be. When we say we want to...
