Introduction
All employees need information on how to deal with a tornado disaster because it could turn out to be a life or death situation.
Assessment Strategy
The employees will be presented with a big poster map of the directions on how to get to a safe house, before the start of a tornado.
Employees will receive and read the manual about tornado safety.
Employees can also go online to see the video clip of a tornado and the destruction that it can cause, following the clip, the employees can take the “Tornado Quiz”.
There will be a discussion with a Weather Disaster Specialist to explain everything the employees need to know about tornado awareness. After the presentation there will be a question and answer session to make sure everyone understands what happens before, during and after a tornado storm, the important steps that should be taken.
Performance Objectives
-Learn the basis of tornadoes and explore different forms of energy.
-Find out why some buildings are stronger than others, and find out if the one you are in is strong.
-Is the building you are in, up to code?
During a Tornado

Be alert to changing weather conditions, tornados accompany several thunderstorms because weather conditions can change very quickly.
Stay away from windows, opening windows will allow damaging winds to enter the structure, so it is best to leave windows alone.
If you can’t get to a building in time find a low spot and lay flat.
After a Tornado
Continue listening to local weather radio /television for updated information. Access may be may be limited.
Help injured or trapped employees. Give first aid, to people who are injured and do not move them, call for help.
Examine walls, floors, doors to make sure the building is not about to collapse. There may be leaking or broken gas lines and also damaged electrical systems.
Watch out for drywall, ceilings and loose plaster that could fall....
