This book is very easy to use. It describes specific facts about the performer lives and music careers. This biographical dictionary is about rock era recording artist. Each entry begins with basis data such as group personnel; birthdates, and birthplaces. The biographies average from one to two pages. The more important the artists are the more information you will find. It’s includes the appendices of Grammy Awards (1958-1998) Academy Awards (music 1958-1988) and RIAA Gold Record Award (1958-1988).
Stone, Terri. Music Producers: Conversations with Today’s Top Record Makers. Emeryville, CA Mixbooks 1992.
This article contained a collection of interviews with twenty-five highly successful recorder producers. Each of the section focus on a certain musician. It contains all styles of music. The subjects are range from KRS-One rap producers to Journey Man George Martin. Most of the entries are about four to five pages long and begin with a brief detailed career biography. At one time all of the interviews were previously published in Mix Magazine.
Tobler, John and Stuart Grundy. The Record Producers. New York: St. Martin Press.
This was a very informative and interesting article. It contains a collection of biographies of thirteen producers of contemporary popular records. Seven of the biographies are British and six of them are American. This information gave me a better understanding of contemporary music from the point of view of British record producers and American record producers. Each of the entry included information on the artist group, song titles and LP titles. It also included education needed.
