Depending on the type of personality a person has, this will show if a person has a progressive friendship or instant friendship. A progressive friendship can go through all three types before setting on the right type. An instant friendship is a bond of friendship instantly. A person usually has three types of friendships.
The first type of friendship is friends that are like family. They are the ones that are held dear in the heart, and would do anything for each other. ‘Family friends’ are usually when one person is in trouble, the other is right with them. They would be found sitting next to each other inside a jail cell, instead of the person called to bail them both out. They, almost, always have the same interests and hobbies. This is usually what starts a friendship in the first place. ‘Family friends’ tend to spend holidays together and each of the real families welcome the other person into the family events. Although friendships like this tend to begin when two people are children, it tends to last a lifetime.
Another type of friendship is a fair weather friend. Both people, usually, are only in contact with each other when one, or both need something. For example, a person would call a friend like this if they need a job reference, or money to bail them out of jail. Most of the time the friendship begins as simple acquaintance until one person, or both, realize that there is something that could be a benefit from the other person. When they reach this friendship, they are not close friends but they could become close friends. Although later in life fair weather friends can become a better friendship, two people will most likely lose contact over time.
Some people are acquaintances. They may become better friends later in life but for the majority of people’s social relationships, some friendships begin and end at this stage.
