Unacceptance and Hopes
Throughout life, you will have those people who will say you won’t be able to make something for yourself, and the people who won’t accept you. In the story “Only Daughter by author Sandra Cisneros” she says that “I am the only daughter and only a daughter.” Cisneros states clearly that she is the only daughter out of seven children. At a young age she showed interest in going to college to become a writer her father thought it was a good idea but for a different reason then she was thinking herself. After become a writer her father didn’t think much of it, he believe working with the mind instead of the hand was better, but after one of her articles got reprinted in Spanish she had him read it he had a whole new look on his daughters writing. She shows us that even though our parents or other people may not understand our ambitions, or accept us for who we are, it does not mean let it stop you from perusing your dreams and going on with life. This shows us that even with this road blocks keep going and they will believe in you eventually and accept. I have had my own family who failed to see my dreams when I told them, as well as not accept me for who I am and what I may be. But now that I am on my way to those dreams they believe in me and more accepting of who I am. Cisneros shows this to us throughout her story “Only Daughter” by say how being the only daughter and only is a daughter really was an influence on her growing up.
