This Assignment is designed to understand operations management & its organizational context. It emphasises the transformation of the changing nature of operations but also focuses on the fact all organizations whether they produce goods or services, & irrespective of being involved in public, private or voluntary sectors; operations function is significant.

Understanding Operations Management:
Just like the ingredients of any ordinary breakfast every morning. A number of different processing steps get involved between the farmer and the table as several different organizations get involved in handling of the process.
A multitude of physical objects & a variety of services are used every day. It is a situation seen just like how fish are unaware of the water that surrounds them similarly most of us hardly gives a little thought to organizational processes that produce these goods and services for our use.
Every firm has an operational function involved, whether it is called operations or not it has a common objective of procuring resources, converting them to outputs and distribute them to their customers. The term operation grips all the activities required to cater an organizations goods & services to its clienteles. Within Large entities operations usually becomes the heart of the organization with people specifically responsible for managing a certain segment or the entire section of the organizations operations processes.
The sustainability of the organization is directly proportionate to the effectiveness of the performance of its operations as it judges the company’s customer satisfaction & maintains a balance of profits & growth & a healthy competition.
