Universal Meaning of Love

Ever since humankind has evolved into the current form, made up of conscious, emotional, and intelligent beings, we have been searching for the universal answer of what exactly it is to love. Throughout the course of history many civilizations have had their own theories and assumptions. Some being completely different from each other while others being quite similar. To the dismay of most of the world though, there has yet to be a universally accepted definition or understanding of what it means exactly to love. With examples and theories as well as assumptions borrowed from a few different kinds of cultures there will hopefully be a breakthrough to make this very complicated subject of loving slightly simpler. From studying these cultures I have come to the realization of one main truth that can be seen as universal. This truth is that no matter what kind of love is discussed, whether it’s for one’s country, self, deity, or in the more common form between two beings, at the time that the love is present it is seen through the “lovers” eyes as the most important, or even in some cases, the only thing that matters in the entire universe; Love is seen as something infinite. Not to mention this crazy thing called love is capable of making people act in extravagant ways that can make them do and say such things they may never have thought of doing before.
When thinking of the word love people commonly think of the kind of love between a man and a woman. Contrary to popular belief there is actually many types of love that are possible. A few of these types of love include, love for one’s country, as in when a warrior would rather risk his life to make sure his country were to remain safe. Love for one’s self, which can be seen when any person makes the choice to choose their well being over that of someone else’s. Love from one person to other, such as a romantic relationship.
