What My Workplace Is Missing
Every workplace has a gap in something. Whether it is in the information protection, information management or information assistance categories, there is always a short fall. The current downfall at a well to do Biometrics Organization under the auspices of the Department of Homeland Security referred to in this paper as its pseudonym US-LINKS (to protect the agency spoken about). US-LINKS has no organized personnel tracking system for leave, training, travel and tracking system. Over the course of five weeks, there will be an organized, well thought out and justifiable system in place.
This problem came about over the previous five months when the Biometrics Department went from three employees to 14 employees when the beginning staff had no employee tracking system or training system in place to start these employees at a good place. With a tracking system in place, it will allow management to track the progress of new employees, know where employees are when they may not be there at the start of the workday and allow employees to understand where there boss is at the start of the workday. “The initial step in designing a complex application is to design its architecture. For this, it is necessary to define and understand the dependency between parts of the application.” (Net Beans, n.d.)
The roles of the individuals will be varied through which employee is filling in the data and who is the recipient of the data. This process will be in place to allow employees to track their upcoming training, what days they have off and allows them to communicate their schedule with their supervisor without having to send individual emails or text messages to notify their boss of their status or schedule.
