New comers to Canada
The essay "Illiterate like me"(pp 166-167) mainly emerges the feeling of the people who have a language obstacle in their way. The author (Zollmann) explained himself very nicely that how he feels, when he was in a city where he do not even knew the one word of their language. Language becomes big problem, could not express feelings and fear that how others think and to whom he relates himself.
According to the author(Zollmann) (pp-166) “I was incapable to send letter of complaint even if I know where to send it”
In this author mainly described the things that everyone feels when you go somewhere and you don't know the language and their culture so it is very difficult to adjust with the people their system. As it happened to him when he was studying in the university he feels himself paralysed that he was unable to understand the language they speak and the material they used to teach the students. Author used to separate himself from the environment because of the language barrier. Author also
talked about his difficulty to tell about his problems in the other language that he was unable to even complaint about the problem that he was facing from so much because he was not educated in the French language and if write something as complaint they will not consider his letter seriously because of his grammar mistakes. He considers himself illiterate like other people.
To continue with the above author also feels that same as the people who don't know anything about the study. he also stated that what if he don't know the language even there are some native people who also don't know the language what they should do they should pack their bags and go somewhere else.
Same as author as an international student sometimes I also feel that there are some related to the language and some other things way of teaching etc. Even we belongs to the country where English is spoken by the largest number of people compare to...
