Violence has always played a role in entertainment. Most between ages 2 and 18 spend up to more than seven hours a day in taking some type of media. Violence in the media has varies of negative effect in which violent behaviour is the most influence. The violence in the media helps encourage and persuade children and young people to freely express their abusive behaviour. As a result, the topic of my essay will show three main Medias television, music and video games in which violence plays a big part in and the negative effects they have.
Television violence causes children and teenagers to become less caring, to become more expressive, to become less sensitive, and also may cause violent and aggressive behaviour. By watching aggression, viewers learn how to be aggressive in new ways and they also draw conclusions about whether being aggressive to others will bring them rewards. Boys with heavy television exposure are more likely to commit violent acts than other boys. Boys occupied in many aggressive acts, including painting graffiti, breaking windows, aggressive play, swearing, and threatening other boys with violence due to watching violence on television. Children who watched the violent shows were more likely to strike out at playmates, argue, disobey authority and steal. Children who watch a lot of violent television were more likely to agree that it’s okay to hit someone if you’re mad at them for a good reason. When a nine-year-old boy received a bad report card from his teacher. He suggested to one of his friends that he send the teacher poisoned candy as revenge. He had seen the same scenario on television the night before. Child views more than 8,000 murders and 100,000 acts of violence on television during the elementary school years.
