Part I
Meaning of the mission in organization’s long term objective is related to the vision of the strategic leader as well as business’s scope that is desirable and appropriate (Thompson, Crinella & Yü, 1993). Mission explains the organization’s wide purpose about what it is and how it will forward. Organizations with successful and constant common mission are clear and know their definite objectives. (Caidin & Hymoff, 1964)

Over the past few years Yahoo has undergone the process of restructuring, step by step due to financial and internal roadblocks reasons, and mainly due to the social media adoption. Incorporation of social offerings for example Yahoo Answers and Flickr into the registered user based lives, Yahoo is come up as social network sorts and on the basis of sharing experience a social network. The Executive Vice President of the Yahoo, Jeff Weiner, to help their future direction and reflect their change has announced the mission of the Yahoo (Yahoo, 2014) It’s interesting to compare Yahoo’s mission with Google’s mission:
Mission statement of Google: “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” (Investor.google.com, 2014)
Mission statement of Yahoo: “to connect people to their passions, communities, and the world’s knowledge.” (Yahoo, 2014)
The approach used by Yahoo is different from the Google as their mission statement emphasis on the emotions and experience of the user life in the terms of communities, passions, people, and connect.
Whereas, the difference can be seen as Google used the different approach for its users to use Google as Search engine as its core, rather than using it as a network operator, therefore Google is successful “ in search.”
