Essay 3: Visual Analysis
It is said to be called America favorite pastime. Baseball the most played sports other than soccer played around the world. Then there are video games. A child’s get away time, a time and place were whatever happened during the day a person or child can just forget about it for a couple hours. What do you get when you put both baseball and a good video game together? Well you get one of the best sports games ever to be made on the market. This game is called MLB 08: The Show you can only play it in the Playstation consoles.
Just like other video games MLB 08: The Show has its direct and indirect messages. However unlike Grand Theft Auto were the messages are about violence this video game brings out a stronger and even more a positive message for children that play it. MLB 08: The Show, direct message is basically how to play baseball, because when you start playing it you have to create yourself and hope a MLB baseball team gives you a contract to play. From there you have to move up from the minor league system, to see if you can play for the MLB team that gave you a chance. The indirect message of this video game in simple, practice, hard work and dedication are the tools that could help you succeed and become the next MLB superstar.
At first glance, this video game makes a person feel like he or she is really watching a baseball game on the TV or even at the stadium for those who have been to a baseball stadium.
This video game is all about the graphics. The baseball players that play in their respected MLB (Major League Baseball) look just like they do in real life. They way they bat, field and even warm up before the game is all represented in this video game. Even the player’s emotion is well shown in the video game. For example, when a player strikes out and he didn’t like the call from the umpire you see clearly the player’s facial expression of discuss. Or another example would be when the...
