Voodoo is one of the world’s oldest religions which have been brought to the western coast by slaves from Africa. It is believed to have started in Haiti in 1724. During the European colonization of Hispaniola

Voodoo was started by the enforced immigration of enslaved African from different ethnic groups. Obeah is not a religion really; there are no meeting places such as synagogs or churches. Obeah is instead is an occult power, tapping the virulent source with god’s own access. Obeah is blended with Orisha. Orisha are spirits of nature as well as powerful ancestors that are prayed too. Like voodoo, the serpent figures heavily
in obeah. It leads back to when Moses was commanded to turn his rod into a snake. He was known as one of the greatest magicians.
With Voodoo there is a scared cycle between the living and the dead. Believers of this religion are asking for their misery to end with rituals such as prayers, drumming, dancing, singing, and animal sacrifice. Obeah has spirits that take possession of the practitioner’s body. The shaman communicates with the world of spirits in order to fight evil. A shaman is considered to be a healer or advisor. In obeah, the spiritual leader is called the Obeah Man. They are people who are said to be possessed by evil and cannot find a cure for their illness. Where Voodoo is used to seek advice, spiritual guidance or help with their problems. Whereas, Obeah helps people concerning their work, romance, domestic life and health but it also does harm to those who want revenge or id jealous of another. The act of voodoo and obeah are both joined with music and dance. They both tap into the spiritual world to get advice, blessing, and material happiness, renewed health and increased in abundance of luck.
Comparing Voodoo and Obeah to the religion of Christianity is somewhat similar and somewhat not. Christians do not have to elaborate such rituals to appease God. Christians believe god sent his son to fulfill any...
