A ‘View from the Bridge’ is a tragical play which explores and follows the Greek tragedy theme, a hero with a flaw leading to his downfall. Other themes presented I the play are love, arrogance, vengeance and hate. The play is about the life of an Italian family who migrated to America, it follows with the “American dream”, to live and work for a better quality of life than which was achievable in their own country. Everything is going smoothly until the immigrant relatives of Beatrice from Italy arrive, and exploite the undeniable feelings Eddie shares for his niece, Catherine. Auther Miller, the author, was inspired from own life experiences when he worked at a dock in America, he would see many immigrants working there and knew of their tough life filled with problems. The play was originally a one-act play but was later then make into two acts for publishing purpose
