1. What topic did you choose? Discuss the position of each of the two articles you selected.
The topic I chose is coffee. The paternal side of my family and I are avid coffee drinkers. I can remember dinking from my dad’s cup early on. The articles that I read have provided interesting information regarding coffee.
Some of the health benefits and some of the dangers of drinking coffee are:
Coffee can help reduce the risk of some very debilitating diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia (Anonymous, 2014)
Coffee can cause anxiety and it can be a major cause sleep deprivation (Anonymous, 2014).

2. What health claims are stated in the articles, such as drinking coffee every day will lower one’s risk for cancer?
One study states that if we drink anywhere between one to five cups of coffee on a daily basis, the antioxidants that are found in coffee may help prevent some of the damage to the brain cells in those that are at risk of Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia. Some researchers also believe that drinking coffee daily may prevent damage in our DNA that lead to some cells becoming cancerous (Anonymous, 2014).
