On Friday, October 22nd the Lake Elsinore station turned into a crime scene. For the majority of the day the sheriff’s station was blocked off by yellow crime scene tape. 30-year-old Jason Budrow, a registered sex offender showed up early at the station and told authorities he had a dead woman in his trunk. Budrow is a resident of the unincorporated community of Good Hope near Lake Elsinore. Authorities have declined to release any information about the woman until her family can be notified. Apparently her and Budrow had been dating. The woman was killed in the 24000 block of Highway 74. The sheriff’s have declined to release any information on how or when the woman was killed. The initial investigation showed no signs of the woman being sexually assaulted. Budrow is on parole and is a registered sex offender who until Friday had been in compliance. But his information did not appear on the Megan’s Law database Friday, which the criminal justice system will be looking into. Court records show he was arrested in 2003 for suspicion of a lewd act with a minor. He was later charged with burglary and sexual penetration by force. He had pleaded guilty to the sex charge and did a 3-year prison term. He is now being held in custody on suspicion of murder with no set bail amount. Investigators interrogated him for hours but the sheriffs have declined to discuss his demeanor or provide details on what he said.
