Team B Week 5 QI Discussion
This week the Team discussed how each member’s attitude and perspicacity can make and or break a team. In reviewing the teams QI plan, it was clear that all procedural elements were present, however, effectiveness and efficiency can be hindered by the teams misunderstanding of deadlines and or lack of commitment. As a whole the team agreed that we have failed to emphasize the importance of imposing deadlines because it was assumed that we were on the same page. Although all team assignments have been submitted timely, team member’s submission / revisions were made hours / minutes prior to assignment deadline. To reduce unnecessary stress and build a strong bond between team members, the team implemented a deadline for each member’s contribution submission. It was important to reiterate that there’s no abiding success without commitment (Robbins, 2015). This paper will convey how by implementing deadlines helped Team B build commitment in order to be successful.
Deadlines
Team B discussed the importance of meeting deadlines. Delivering team assignments on time is not only a requirement but an excellent way to be successful. It is important to be accountable as a team member. We must foster an environment that encourages team members to meet deadlines as a result of good communication skills. There are several different components that will help the team to meet their deadlines which are two way communication, task break down, lead time and lag time, and multi-tasking versus focus (Darter, 2014). Communication is a vital tool that helps the team to discuss and to agree on deadlines. The team has to understand the importance of two way communication in regards to meeting deadlines.
