The MLB has signed an agreement with the Chinese baseball association to help develop the Chinese league. The contract holds to this for the next four years to help the association. Lei Juin the head of Chinese Baseball said that working with the MLB has helped them out tremendously in the past. Lei Juin also says that it is a strategic partnership in that they help each other build. MLB’s VP states that the main goal is to get baseball in China to be umped by Chinese and administered by the Chinese. The two sides also announced the 2010 MLB baseball park. This park will host sporting events and training camps as well.

The Japanese winter Olympics team returned with five medals and 26 top eight. Some are now questioning on how well they actually did. The Japanese were trying for 10 medals and sadly weren’t even close. The Japanese didn’t receive any golds and their neighbors South Korea and China ended up with 11 and 14. Hashimoto said that as a team japan really wanted to grab a gold and they were so close but close isn’t good enough. He also stated that they need more support from the government because they only received 2.7 billion to improve while South Korea reaveived 10 billion. The government doesn’t see the point in spending so much money to just receive a gold.

Baruto was promoted to sumos sevond highest rank of ozeki after many strong performances in recent tournaments. The Japan Sumo Association unanimously promoted Baruto at an executive meeting . Baruto is only 25 years old and is one of the youngest. This promotion was caused after going 14-1 in a tournament last weekend. Baruto said this “I want to be cheerful and be an ozeki who can live up to the expectations of the fans”. The next level to get promoted to is yokozuna and one must win a championship to reach that.
