AnyPrint is a printing company who prints “anything on everything”, however the main source of revenue is generated by printing logos on t-shirts. The owner has equipment which enables him to create and apply logos utilizing three different methods, including screen printing, vinyl and sublimation. These are three distinct methods requiring different training, different supplies and t-shirts made out of different materials, and he would like to determine which method has the lowest total cost, so he can focus his training on those methods, and so he knows what printing recommendations he should make to his customers.
Below is a table of identifying the costs associated with printing one shirt using each method. The fixed costs associated with screen printing included the cost of the t-shirt, ink, artwork, plates and screens, film, and shipping. The fixed costs associated with vinyl printing included the cost of the t-shirt, vinyl, artwork, and shipping. And the fixed costs for sublimation printing included the cost of the t-shirt, ink, artwork, and shipping. The only variable cost within each method was the amount of labor required to produce each shirt.
