Who do the current gun laws in The United States benefit?

Introduction:

In this paper I will discuss the current gun laws in the State of Michigan and how the citizens, children and the criminals are affected. Between the years 1994 and 1999 there were 220 school associated violent events resulting in 253 deaths 74.5 percent of these resulted in death, handguns caused almost 60 percent of these. I will show how the Michigan Legislators have changed the laws to affect the citizens and the gun manufacturers. Law makers have changed the laws to protect the citizens of the State of Michigan, I will show evidence that this is not entirely true. Although some laws have been changed to benefit the citizens, the majority of the laws were written to benefit special interests, lawmakers and gun manufacturers. I will show statistics on gun violence in the State of Michigan versus other states that are more pro-active in gun legislation that benefits their citizens. I will show the effects on families and innocent people who are victims of gun violence in the State of Michigan.

I will supply non-biased, persuasive, and fact based evidence on the current gun laws, statistics and how they affect the citizens of the State of Michigan. How we as a state can learn from the current gun control laws from other states.
