What is the purpose of a higher education?

There are many purposes of a higher education. People have different reasons for getting a higher education and what they want to do with their life. One reason is to better your knowledge. That is the main reason that people say that they go to college. They want to be more informed and get as much knowledge as possible. People also go because they want to get a better job. To get a good job these days it is always safe to have a college degree. People want a job that they will enjoy going to, and to have that most jobs want a person with a higher education. If there are two people that want the same job and one has a college degree and the other doesn’t, it is a very high possibility that they will pick the one with the college degree.
Another reason for a higher education is the money. People with degrees get better paying jobs. Businesses are willing to pay people more that have more knowledge and are experienced in their field. They don’t want people that aren’t going to take their job seriously. Another reason for a higher education is to get out and meet more people. You get to experience a lot more and get to interact with multiple cultures. You’re not just around people in your community like in high school. People come from everywhere to go to college and you make so many more friendships. You get more of a social life. That leads into the other reason of getting the “college experience”. Many people say that is why they go. They get to be on their own and have so much more freedom. They become independent and more responsible. They now live on their own and set their own standards. So really it all depends on what your opinion of getting a higher education is. People all do it for different reasons but all in all there are a lot of different reasons of why you want to do it.
