Jonathan, who is a very intelligent, hard working man is very family oriented, he has a strong trust in God. Throughout the story Jonathan is faced with difficult choices and bases his decisions on evaluating the surroundings and his perception of the people he is dealing with. Jonathan, a decent and religious man, becomes at times dishonest, the devastation of war and disaster can turn even an intelligent, religious man to become a bit dishonest or take advantage of someone if placed in a situation to survive, Jonathan’s actions at times, in a way is similar to the thieves.
