What Leadership Means to Me

What Leadership Means to Me

Sometimes we are taken aback because we are too conscious of our actions (words, language, gestures) but it only takes a giant leap of faith (and confidence) to change and make a difference. No matter how small your ideas are, it is important that the people hear you. As a leader, you need to foster an environment where people can say what they want and allow others to listen. You as a leader must also recognize that leadership entails a never-ending quest for learning. We must allow ourselves to develop--work with the things/ characteristics that we need to improve on. In order to do so, we must recognize and accept this weakness and be open for a change.Time will come wherein I will feel the need to move on either moving to a different department or a different company but there are 2 things that I will truly treasure from the experiences I had so far: (1) Resilience--- it is not easy to work at night knowing that your family and friends are sleeping. It takes dedication and perseverance to learn something that is totally different from what you are accustomed to but it is very rewarding to realize that you are part of something new(2) Character and Values --- we must recognize the fact that each and every one of us are different. The way we deal with problems and challenges defines us. It is important that we have a strong core to be able to withstand the difficulties that we are going to face. Leadership is not defined on the position that we are currently in, it is rooted from the actions that we do. We can all be leaders provided that we have a clear manifestation of who we are and what we stand for.
